The student is expected to

work collaboratively with others by following agreed-upon rules for discussion, including taking turns; and

A student expectation is directly related to the knowledge and skills statement, is more specific about how students demonstrate their learning, and always begins with a verb. Student expectations are further broken down into their component parts, often referred to as “breakouts.”

Vertical alignment shows student expectations in the same subject area at different grade levels that are related to or build upon one another.

SLA.3.1.D

work collaboratively with others by following agreed-upon rules, norms, and protocols; and

SLA.4.1.D

work collaboratively with others to develop a plan of shared responsibilities.

SLA.5.1.D

work collaboratively with others to develop a plan of shared responsibilities.

SLA.6.1.D

participate in student-led discussions by eliciting and considering suggestions from other group members, taking notes, and identifying points of agreement and disagreement.

SLAR.7.1.D
Based on the student's language proficiency level, the student is expected to engage in meaningful discourse and provide and accept constructive feedback from others; and
SLAR.8.1.E
Based on the student's language proficiency level, the student is expected to participate collaboratively in discussions, plan agendas with clear goals and deadlines, set time limits for speakers, take notes, and vote on key issues; and

Based on the student's language proficiency level, and with appropriately provided English language development scaffolding, the student is expected to participate collaboratively, building on the ideas of others, contributing relevant information, developing a plan for consensus building, and setting ground rules for decision making;
