Knowledge and Skills Statement

Practical technology concepts--skills and tools. The student demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of technology systems, concepts, and operations.

Observe students when using keyboards. Ask each student to demonstrate proper hand and body position when keyboarding. Continue to observe students over time to determine if students can maintain proper positions. For example,

  • feet are supported by the floor or foot rest;
  • the back is supported by a chair;
  • knees and hips are generally parallel to the floor;
  • hands, wrists, and forearms are straight; and
  • the head is pointed forward and straight.
Glossary terms and definitions are consistent across kindergarten through high school in the TEKS Guide. The definitions are intended to give educators a common understanding of the terms regardless of what grade level they teach. Glossary definitions are not intended for use with students.
