Knowledge and Skills Statement

Inquiry and research: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student engages in both short-term and sustained recursive inquiry processes for a variety of purposes.

Mantenga portafolios de cada estudiante donde guarde materiales de investigación y tenga criterios de evaluación que le ayuden a calificar los trabajos reunidos. Éstos pueden incluir organizadores gráficos o materiales semejantes que ayuden en la organización del proceso, así como el trabajo final para presentar la investigación. Éste puede tener la forma de folleto, póster, video, reporte escrito, etc. El dominio de los estudiantes de esta expectativa estudiantil debe basarse en su habilidad para desarrollar y seguir un plan de investigación.

Ejemplo de criterios de evaluación:

1) El estudiante es incapaz de desarrollar y seguir un plan de investigación.

2) El estudiante es capaz de seguir un plan de investigación, pero es incapaz de desarrollar un plan de investigación o viceversa.

3) El estudiante es capaz de seguir un plan de investigación y contribuir con una o dos ideas para el desarrollo de un plan de investigación.

4) El estudiante es capaz de desarrollar y seguir un plan de investigación, con cierta ayuda de un adulto.

In second grade, adult assistant means providing extensive modeling to show the students what the process looks like. It is essential for the teacher to lay out clear expectations and visually show the students what they are expected to do by leading a think aloud and asking prompting questions. Also, providing students with scaffolds such as sentence stems, graphic organizers, example plans, and anchor charts can assist students in meeting this SE. This process of developing and following a research plan should be highly collaborative.
