Cross-curricular Connections

The cross-curricular connections are designed to help educators make content connections between the science TEKS and math, English language arts and reading, social studies, and technology applications. The standards below illustrate alignment between grade level content areas which may help educators develop cross-curricular lessons. These connections do not represent all possible connections that might be made.

Math

Math.K.1.D communicate mathematical ideas, reasoning, and their implications using multiple representations, including symbols, diagrams, graphs, and language as appropriate

Math.K.1.B use a problem-solving model that incorporates analyzing given information, formulating a plan or strategy, determining a solution, justifying the solution, and evaluating the problem-solving process and the reasonableness of the solution

Math.K.3.A model the action of joining to represent addition and the action of separating to represent subtraction

Math.K.3.C explain the strategies used to solve problems involving adding and subtracting within 10 using spoken words, concrete and pictorial models, and number sentences

SS.K.14.D create and interpret visuals, including pictures and maps

English Language Arts and Reading

ELAR.K.5.D create mental images to deepen understanding with adult assistance

ELAR.K.6.E interact with sources in meaningful ways such as illustrating or writing

Technology Applications

TA.K.3.B use a design process with components such as asking questions, brainstorming, or storyboarding to identify and solve authentic problems with adult assistance
