writing process TEKS talk image

Knowledge and Skills Statement

Composition: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts--writing process. The student uses the writing process recursively to compose multiple texts that are legible and uses appropriate conventions.
In the editing stage, students should review drafts for correct capitalization. For example, capital letters are used for the first word in a sentence, the pronoun I, and proper nouns (names of specific people, places, or things/events). Capital letters are also used in the first word in a quotation that is a complete sentence and for a person's official title (e.g., "Dr. Seuss is famous for saying, 'Why fit in when you were born to stand out'").
