Introduction
Welcome to the Literacy Achievement Academy, Kindergarten participant resource.
The Literacy Achievement Academy, Kindergarten, provides teachers with the knowledge of
- the Kindergarten English language arts and reading TEKS and the ELPS;
- effective and systematic early reading instruction, including the five components of phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension;
- early writing instruction; and
- differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners and students who are struggling with learning to read.
Activities include opportunities for teachers to practice research-based strategies and apply them to their reading instruction. Materials will include example lessons, black-line masters, and instructional guidelines.
