Do a quick check during small-group or one-on-one instruction.

Present students with examples of safe and unsafe online account management practices. Ask students to give a thumbs up or thumbs down if the example is a safe or unsafe.

Examples:

  • Sharing a password with friends
  • Changing passwords
  • Logging off software and online accounts
  • Leaving a device without logging off

Notes:

  • Although this standard and assessment are the same in kindergarten, it is important to reassess student knowledge to ensure account safety practices are automatic in nature.
  • Additional examples may be found in local policy or technology center rules.
Glossary terms and definitions are consistent across kindergarten through high school in the TEKS Guide. The definitions are intended to give educators a common understanding of the terms regardless of what grade level they teach. Glossary definitions are not intended for use with students.
