Knowledge and Skills Statement

Science concepts. The student knows and applies the laws governing motion in a variety of situations.

a vector quantity (magnitude and direction) that is a measurement of the change in motion of an object (speeding up, slowing down, or changing direction); the result of an unbalanced force; calculated as the rate of change in the velocity over time or by dividing the force applied by the mass of the object

the result of the tendency of any object to persist in motion at a constant horizontal velocity while accelerating vertically under the effect of gravity

an act, process, or instance of changing position or location

the motion of a particle moving at a constant speed in a circular path parallel to the ground

Summary In this paper, the trajectory of a projectile in a resistant medium with quadratic resistant law is investigated. Based on the elementary analysis method, the equation for the trajectory in the Cartesian coordinates system is derived. The solutions obtained in this paper present a new viewpoint for future investigations on the traditional mechanical problem.
