Knowledge and Skills Statement

Science concepts. The student knows that relationships exist between the structure and properties of matter.
Glossary terms and definitions are consistent across kindergarten through high school in the TEKS Guide. The definitions are intended to give educators a common understanding of the terms regardless of what grade level they teach. Glossary definitions are not intended for use with students.

Summary In the general chemistry curriculum, kinetics--the study of the rates of reactions--is often approached in a classical and somewhat mechanical sense (Zumdahl 2009; Tro 2011) This article presents a hands-on activity to help address these issues and promote real understanding of kinetics.
