Multiple genres: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts--genres. The student recognizes and analyzes genre-specific characteristics, structures, and purposes within and across increasingly complex traditional, contemporary, classical, and diverse texts.
Demonstrated Proficiency of ELA.K.8.B
In a read-aloud using a nursery rhyme or poem, ask students to raise their hands when they hear rhyming words. When they raise their hands, ask them to turn and talk to a partner about the rhyme and rhythm they heard. Keep a checklist nearby to document whether students can accurately discuss rhyme and rhythm in nursery rhymes and a variety of poems.
