Knowledge and Skills Statement
Consider pairing SE 3.13.E with SE 3.13.H and assessing both SEs at the same time. With SE 3.13.E, students demonstrate understanding of information gathered. Task students with sharing the results of an inquiry-based research project. Have students share the results of their research verbally, visually, or musically by creating multimodal presentations. Examples may include a traditional research report, a play, a media presentation, a cartoon, or a brochure.
This SE can be combined with multiple SEs as students make choices about mode of delivery for their research including the following:
- SE 3.10.C author’s use of print and graphic features to achieve a purpose
- SE 3.9.E.iii identifying intended audience
- SE 3.11.E publish written work for appropriate audiences
- SE 3.9.F characteristics of multi-modal and digital texts
Further Explanation
This SE requires students to share the results of their inquiry. Students identify the most effective way to communicate the results of their research with others. They present their findings in a written format such as a report or in an oral presentation such as a speech or debate. Students may also opt to share the results of their research in a multimodal presentation which would include a combination of writing, sound, still images, or moving images.
