Inquiry and research: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student engages in both short-term and sustained recursive inquiry processes for a variety of purposes.
Demonstrated Proficiency of ELA.2.13.B
Keep portfolios of students’ research materials and use a rubric to score the work collected. Collected work might include graphic organizers or other organization templates as well as the final product for presenting the research. Final products can include essays, posters, pamphlets, presentation slide decks, or videos. Students’ mastery of this SE should be based on their ability to develop and follow a research plan.
Sample rubric:
- The student is unable to develop and follow a research plan.
- The student is able to follow a research plan but unable to develop a research plan or vice versa.
- The student is able to follow a research plan and contribute an idea or two to the development of a research plan.
- The student is able to develop and follow a research plan with some adult guidance.
