Use the following rubric to monitor students’ progress towards mastering this SE. This SE should be assessed both while students are developing drafts and after students have completed their drafts.
Sample rubric:
- The student is unable to edit drafts to use the correct spelling of words with grade-appropriate orthographic patterns and rules and high-frequency words even with adult assistance.
- The student is inconsistently able to edit drafts to use the correct spelling of words with grade-appropriate orthographic patterns and rules and high-frequency words with adult assistance.
- The student is consistently able to edit drafts to use the correct spelling of words with grade-appropriate orthographic patterns and rules and high-frequency words with adult assistance.
