Knowledge and Skills Statement

Developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, discussion, and thinking -- oral language. The student develops oral language through listening, speaking, and discussion.

Use una lista de control para verificar el lenguaje oral durante una discusión en grupo, las actividades en los centros de aprendizaje o en conversaciones informales, como durante el almuerzo, el recreo, la llegada o salida de la escuela o durante presentaciones de los estudiantes en clase. El estudiante:

Listen actively means the students listen with a purpose and comprehend what is being said so they can internalize the speaker's message, allowing them to respond appropriately to questions. Active listeners demonstrate attentive nonverbal behavior such as making eye contact and nodding their heads. (Note: Consideration needs to be given to the cultural backgrounds and individual needs of students.)
