Knowledge and Skills Statement

Inquiry and research: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student engages in both short-term and sustained recursive inquiry processes for a variety of purposes.

Una opción para evaluar esta expectativa estudiantil es mediante la observación y la toma de notas durante discusiones en grupo con toda la clase o en grupos pequeños que impliquen indagaciones e investigaciones. Inquiry is the act of seeking information by questioning. It is also known as the process of investigating a topic of interest in order to find out more about it. In kindergarten, inquiry can be informal (e.g., students have a discussion about a topic of interest and share their thoughts using background knowledge) or it can be formal (e.g., students work with a graphic organizer to collaboratively generate a question about a topic they plan to further investigate).
