Knowledge and Skills Statement

Response skills: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student responds to an increasingly challenging variety of sources that are read, heard, or viewed.

Hágales preguntas a los estudiantes y observe sus respuestas.

  • Cuando los estudiantes respondan a un texto, podría preguntar “¿Por qué piensas eso?” o “¿Cómo sabes eso?”. Los estudiantes deben poder recordar la parte del texto que apoya su respuesta.
  • También puede pedir a los estudiantes que comprueben algo  para asegurarse de que comprenden el uso de la evidencia textual para apoyar apropiadamente una respuesta. Por ejemplo, una vez terminada una lectura informativa sobre el sol, el maestro podría preguntar “¿Qué es el sol?”. Si el niño dice “Una estrella”, el maestro podría preguntar “¿Cómo lo sabes?”. El estudiante podría señalar entonces la parte del texto que dice que el sol es una estrella.

Nota:
El maestro puede observar las respuestas de los estudiantes en sesión con todos, en grupos pequeños o en sesiones individuales. El maestro puede monitorear el avance y comprensión de los estudiantes a través de notas detalladas o una lista de control.

In first grade, text evidence may involve a student pointing to the part of the text that reinforces the student’s response or paraphrasing a part in the story that supports the student’s thinking.
Students are expected to use information taken directly from texts to justify their responses. It is important that students understand that their responses must be based on actual ideas presented in a reading piece and not on their personal opinions about the topic being discussed.
