These documents present the Commissioner’s guidelines for prekindergarten curriculum. Because there is no state-required prekindergarten curriculum, use of these guidelines is voluntary. Texas Education Code §29.153 contains statutory requirements concerning prekindergarten.

Click on the image below to access a self-assessment tool that was created to assist High Quality Prekindergarten Grantees with evaluating their prekindergarten programs and making program adjustments to meet the needs of all prekindergarten students.

In partnership with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the Texas Comprehensive Center (TXCC)
at American Institutes for Research initiated the High-Quality Prekindergarten Grant case study
project in fall 2016. The goal of the project was to gain a clearer understanding of how a sample
(N = 10) of grantees prioritized funding within their prekindergarten classrooms to increase
quality.
